Vintage, New, Schwarzwalder Kurkurkuhren Black Forest Cuckoo Wall Clock With 1 Day Chain Movement. This is a very nice find of a beautiful and new, (vintage and never used) hand carved, 1 day, mechanical Schwarzwalder Uhren cuckoo clock.

The clock is hand carved from cured and aged Linden wood which is grown nearly exclusively at certain altitudes of the Black Forest and made in Germany. It was created to look like an intricately three, hand carved maple leaves on the front and two carved maple leaf's found on the top wooden crown topper.

The wooden pendulum also has a carved maple leaf. The clock has a beautifully carved bird with glass eyes perched to the right of the dial and another to the left and both are staring upward at a carved bird perched in the branches atop the clock looking as though he's ready to take flight. All of the carvings are finished in a rich dark brown which makes it even more stunning! The dial features raised white Roman numerals to mark the hours and matching fancy hands to point out the time. The back is wood too and secured with a metal latch. A weight driven movement simply means that the chains need to be pulled every day or as often as you wish to wind the clock and cuckoo activity. The tall wooden whistle or bellow tubes are intact and properly packed inside. At the bottom of each hour, a colorful bird opens the small door above the dial and stands in the doorway. He gives off a single cuckoo sound in tandem with a coiled cathedral chime inside the case and then retreats back inside and closes the door.

The bird reappears at the top of the hour and correctly cuckoos and chimes the current number of hours and then goes back inside the case and closes the door behind him; fascinating! Keep in mind this is completely packaged this is an old clock and some service or adjustments may be necessary once it arrives at its new home.

It has been stored in the original owners basement and has a musty smell. Once it's out of the box it will air out and be fine. I will double box and bubble wrap for added protection. The clock also comes complete as shown with two sets of attached metal chains (still wired up), a hand carved wooden leaf pendulum, and two pinecone shaped metal weights. Ive looked the clock over fairly well and could only see a few small marks on the roof top from being stored in the box.

It will be gorgeous on display! The clock is an impressive size too measuring approx. 14" high (counting the crown topper but not counting the weights or pendulum), about 5 1/2" at its deepest point, and about 8 1/2 across.
