Rare Antique George Kuehl German Black Forest Figural Cuckoo Clock. Antique Black Forest carved wood cuckoo clock in the traditional house form, decorated with leaves and a bird. Includes 2 pine cone shaped weights and pendulum. Out of Chicago, IL, was initially an importer of clocks from Germany to the U.
In the early 1900's. This is a pretty special cuckoo with its unusual pendulum, different kind of bird on top and the cute little carved leaf on the cuckoo's door. Clock is 17.5 tall from top of bird on the crown to bottom of the leaf on the faceplate. The crown is 13.25 across. The crown has a chip out of the end of one of the leaves.
The faceplate is 10.5 across from the leaves at the bottom. The clock box is 8.25" tall, 7.5" across and 5 deep. The pendulum is 9 long.
The weights weigh 1152 grams or 40.6 ounces each. The bellows are in good condition. The hands appear to be the original bone. The minute hand was broken and repaired, but hardly noticeable. The clock makes a mechanical sound when it cuckoos. You can hear it on the video. I figure that is just part of the charm of a clock over 100 years old.
There is a date stamped inside a side door of July 30, 1901. Thank you for looking at this item.
